Authorizing the Director of Water Services to execute a $2,776,512.65 Amendment No. 2 for preconstruction and construction services to the progressive design-build contract with Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc., for the Northland Transmission, Pumping and Storage project for a total contract amount of $13,293,901.85; and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.

WHEREAS, City Council passed Ordinance No. 260268 on April 2, 2026, authorizing a $1,100,000.00 progressive design-build contract with Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc., for the Northland Transmission, Pumping and Storage project; and
WHEREAS, City Council passed Ordinance No. 260590 on July 9, 2026, authorizing a $9,417,389.20 Amendment No. 1 for engineering design and field investigation Phase 2 services for additional design services for the 2027 interim solution and early procurement of long lead items for the interim solution at existing Water Treatment Plant Secondary Pump Station, including the replacement of Pump #6 with a new 20 million gallon per day pump, and the provision of associated electrical equipment; and
WHEREAS, this proposed $2,776,512.65 Amendment No. 2 is for engineering design and field investigation services for the North Oak Transmission Main, easement appraisal services, Phase 1 preconstruction services, and Phase 2 construction (early procurement) services of long lead items for the Arrowhead Pump Station; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That the Director of Water Services Department is authorized to execute Amendment No. 2 to Contract No. 9977 in the amount of $2,776,512.65, for a total contract amount of $13,293,901.85, with Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc., for the Northland Transmission, Pumping and Storage project, Project No. 80002662.
