Authorizing a $310,780.00 design professional services contract Amendment No. 4 to Contract No. 9566 with Odimo, LLC, for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Compliance for Various KC Water Buildings project for a total contract amount of $586,940.00; and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.

WHEREAS, the City executed a $114,859.00 design professional contract with Odimo, LLC, on April 12, 2021, which was for design of various building upgrades to bring KC Water’s Training Annex building, Chemical building, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) building, Blue River Administration building, and Central Fleet Maintenance building into compliance to meet the 2012 American with Disabilities Act design standards; and

 

WHEREAS, the City executed a $60,591.00 Amendment No. 1 on March 29, 2022, for re-design of the restrooms/locker rooms at the Blue River Administration building and the Training Annex building into gender-neutral restrooms and to amend existing contract language to add the department’s design professional evaluation process; and

 

WHEREAS, the City executed a $57,534.00 Amendment No. 2 on July 31, 2022, for preparation of an additional feasibility study for further renovations to the KC Water Training Annex building; and

 

WHEREAS, the City executed a $43,287.00 Amendment No. 3 on January 5, 2024, for a revised design for the lower level of the SCADA building due to mold remediation; and

 

WHEREAS, this proposed ordinance is for a $310,780.00 Amendment No. 4 for design and bidding services to achieve ADA compliance for the 4700 Training building and the Blue River Administration building; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the Director of Water Services Department is authorized to execute Amendment No. 4 to Contract No. 9566 in the amount of $310,780.00, for a total contract amount of $586,940.00 with Odimo, LLC, for the ADA Compliance for Various KC Water Buildings project, Project No. 80XX0001.  A copy of this amendment is on file in the office of Water Services.

 

Section 2.  That the Director of Water Services is authorized to expend up to the sum of $310,780.00 from Account No. 26-8010-807710-611040-80XX0001, Adm/Service Facility Improv, to satisfy the cost of this amendment.

 

Section 3.  That this ordinance, relating to the design, repair, maintenance or construction of a public improvement, is recognized as an ordinance with an accelerated effective date as provided by Section 503(a)(3)(D) of the City Charter and shall take effect in accordance with Section 503, City Charter.
