RESOLUTION - Congratulating the Platte County Pirates for winning the Class 5 Missouri State Championship in football.

WHEREAS, the Platte County High School Football Team has -----demonstrated exceptional talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the 2025 football season; and
WHEREAS, under the leadership of Head Coach Bill Utz and the dedicated coaching staff, the team has represented Platte County High School and the City of Kansas City with distinction and pride; and
WHEREAS, the Pirates achieved a remarkable season record of 14-0 and earned the titles of District Champions, Conference Champions, and State Champions; and
WHEREAS, the Pirates repeated as Missouri State football champions and secured Platte County’s fifth state football title by winning fourteen straight games; and
WHERES, the Pirates now maintain a 28-game winning streak, the longest active winning streak in Missouri High School football; and
WHEREAS, the Pirates averaged 51.7 points per game for the course of the season; and
WHEREAS, the student-athletes of the Pirates football team have shown dedication not only on the field but also in their academics and service to the community; and
WHEREAS, their success is a reflection of hard work, perseverance, and the unwavering support of their families, school staff, and the Platte County community; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby congratulate the Platte County Pirates for winning the Class 5 Missouri State Championship in football; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the Platte County Pirates Head Coach, Bill Utz, and the Platte County High School Pirates football team, with the Mayor and Council encouraging all citizens to join with them in their celebration.
