Ratifying compensation of the City Manager and authorizing the Mayor to execute any necessary amendments to the Employment Agreement between the City and Mario Vasquez for the position of City Manager.

WHEREAS, Section 218(d) of the Charter provides that: “[T]he Mayor may fix the compensation of the City Manager, subject to ratification by a vote of at least six additional members of the Council”; and

 

WHEREAS, by Ordinance No. 250891, the City Council ratified the current compensation of Mario Vasquez for his service as City Manager and authorized the Mayor to execute an "Employment Agreement Between the City of Kansas City, Missouri and Mario Vasquez;" and

 

WHEREAS, the Council has conducted a review of the City Manager’s performance and has determined an increase in their annual compensation is warranted; NOW THEREFORE,

 

                     BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1.  That the monthly base salary of the City Manager, Mario Vasquez, is hereby increased to $28,333.33.

 

Section 2.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute any amendments to the  "Employment Agreement Between the City of Kansas City, Missouri and Mario Vasquez" necessary to effectuate the purpose of this ordinance.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
