Acknowledging the outstanding life and continued legacy of Romaine Deloise Green.

WHEREAS, on May 28, 1941, Romaine Deloise Green was born to Clifford Russell Green and Maxine Janie Lewis-Green; and
WHEREAS, Romaine Deloise Green grew up in Kansas City along with her four siblings, she attended Wendell Phillips grade school, R. T. Coles junior high, and graduated from Central High School in 1959, with Junior Achievement recognition; and
WHEREAS, Romaine pursued higher education at Penn Valley Community College, UMKC, and Oklahoma University. Romaine had a successful career that spanned several decades and included jobs at Wimpys, the US Post Office, Social Security, Internal Revenue, Census Bureau, City of Kansas City, Family Planning, Rodent Control, Code Enforcement, and Sanitation Rescue (Illegal Dumping Department); and
WHEREAS, Romaine also served in the US Army Reserves from 1979-1990 and retired from the US Air Force in 1990; and
WHEREAS, Romaine is a devoted member of St James United Methodist church, and has spent countless hours volunteering for organizations such as the Retirement Board of Kansas City, Fishes and Loaves Food Pantry, Care and Nature, VA Volunteer Service, and the Local 500 Union as Secretary and Union Rep; and
WHEREAS, Romaine is also a two-time breast cancer survivor who has shown immense strength and resilience in her fight against the disease; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council agree that from what we get, we can make a living; from what we give, makes a life, and acknowledge Romaine Deloise Green, for your selfless life and example of how to live; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Romain Deloise Green with the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for a life well lived.
