Authorizing Amendment No. 3 in the amount of $652,228.00 to a design professional services agreement with Taliaferro & Browne, Inc. to provide construction phase services for the 18th Street Pedestrian Mall Project for a total contract amount not to exceed $2,415,350.00; and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works on May 4, 2022, authorized an agreement with Taliaferro & Browne, Inc. for initial design professional services for the 18th Street Pedestrian Mall project in the amount of $287,377.00; and
WHEREAS, after review of the project's January 2023 final study, Council directed staff to complete the design of the 18th Street Pedestrian Mall Project, and Amendment No. 1 in the amount of $1,183,976.00 was authorized by Ordinance 230312 to further the project; and
WHEREAS, additional design services were required for the Paseo Improvements from E 17th Ter to Overpass for KCT Railway project, leading to Amendment No. 2 in the amount of $291,769.00, authorized by Ordinance 241067; NOW, THEREFORE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Works is hereby authorized to execute the design professional services Amendment No. 3 with Taliaferro & Browne, Inc. in the amount of $652,228.00 from funds previously appropriated to Account No. 26-3090-898301-B-89060886 for Project No. 89060886, 18th Street Pedestrian Mall from Paseo to Woodland Ave, for a total contract amount of $2,415,350.00 to provide construction phase services, including a Resident Project Representative and holding coordination meetings with contractors constructing other Jazz District projects, throughout the construction of the 18th Street Pedestrian Mall project. A copy of the amendment is on file in the Public Works Department.
Section 2. That the Director of Public Works is hereby designated requisitioning authority for Account No. 26-3090-898301-B-89060886.
Section 3. That this ordinance relating to the appropriation of money and the expenses of government is recognized as an ordinance with an accelerated effective date as provided by Section 503(a)(3)(B) and Section 503(a)(3)(C) of the City Charter and shall take effect in accordance with Section 503, City Charter.
