Appropriating $150,000.00 from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the General Fund for a wage disparity study and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.

WHEREAS, the City previously conducted a wage disparity study in 2020 and has committed to future studies to ensure pay discrepancies are mitigated; and
FY 2025-2026 Budget included appropriations of $150,000.00 for a compensation study; and
WHEREAS, the Human Resources Department requires an additional appropriation for the vendor to complete the additional scope a wage disparity study entails; and
WHEREAS, the FY 2025-26 First Quarter Budget analysis has determined an appropriation to support this directive will require a drawdown of fund balance in the General Fund; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That the sum of $150,000.00 is hereby appropriated from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the General Fund to the following account:
26-1000-142330-B Compensation $150,000.00
Section 2. That this ordinance relating to the appropriation of money and the expenses of government is recognized as an ordinance with an accelerated effective date as provided by Section 503(a)(3)(B) and Section 503(a)(3)(C) of the City Charter and shall take effect in accordance with Section 503, City Charter.
