Appropriating $100,000.00 from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the General Fund to provide the Metropolitan Arts Council of Greater Kansas City (“ArtsKC”) with a request for supplemental appropriation and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Arts Council of Greater Kansas City (“ArtsKC”) has made a request for supplemental appropriation to modernize its online platform in order for it to become a long-term legacy resource for Kansas City’s arts and small business sectors; and
WHEREAS, the Kansas City metropolitan area will be hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup from June 11, 2026 through July 19, 2026 and ArtsKC anticipates tourism from this event affecting its operations; and
WHEREAS, the FY 2025-26 First Quarter Budget analysis has determined an appropriation to support this directive will require a drawdown of fund balance in the General Fund; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY,
Section 1. That the sum of $100,000.00 is hereby appropriated from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the General Fund to the following account:
26-1000-571114-B Arts KC $100,000.00
Section 2. That this ordinance relating to the appropriation of money and the expenses of government is recognized as an ordinance with an accelerated effective date as provided by Section 503(a)(3)(B) and Section 503(a)(3)(C) of the City Charter and shall take effect in accordance with Section 503, City Charter.
