RESOLUTION - Celebrating the 70th wedding anniversary of Joseph and Joyce Jacobs.

WHEREAS, Joseph (Joe) Jacobs, Jr. and Joyce Bright were married on April 7, 1956, at First Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas, after meeting as students at Wyandotte High School; and
WHEREAS, Joe is the son of Joseph and Margaret Jacobs, and Joyce is the daughter of Frank and Maude Bright, and together they have honored their families through lives of integrity and service; and
WHEREAS, They have shared a devoted marriage of nearly seven decades and have lived in Kansas City, Missouri for over 67 years, building a home of their own centered on love, faith, and family; and they raised three sons-Joseph (Joe) III, Jeffery, and Jon (and wife Melissa)-and are the proud grandparents of seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, all of whom bring them great joy and pride; and
WHEREAS, Joe dedicated 40 years as a proud Boilermaker, served honorably in the United States Air Force Reserves, earned his Associate Degree from Metropolitan Community College, and volunteered for 22 years with NKC Schools, receiving the Volunteer of the Year Award from the Northland Regional Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, Joyce devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother, and homemaker, and was recognized by the Missouri State Bowling Association for her dedication to bowling and for serving as a league secretary for 30 years; and
WHEREAS, together Joe and Joyce shared 55 years as avid bowlers, are lifetime KU basketball and Kansas City Royals fans, and are enthusiastic supporters of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren in sports and activities; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby celebrate the 70th wedding anniversary of Joseph and Joyce Jacobs; and
BE IT FURTHERE RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Joseph (Joe) Jacobs, Jr. and Joyce Bright Jacobs with the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for their enduring marriage, deep commitment to family, service to community, and the lasting legacy of love they continue to share.
