RESOLUTION - Honoring Denise DeJulio.

WHEREAS, on November 11, 1985, Denise DeJulio began her remarkable journey with Visit KC, embarking on a career in convention sales that has spanned four decades and left an indelible mark on Kansas City; and
WHEREAS, on November 11, 2025, Denise will celebrate her 40th anniversary at Visit KC, having dedicated nearly her entire professional career to promoting Kansas City as a premier destination for conventions, meetings, and events; and
WHEREAS, Denise has witnessed and contributed to the transformation of Kansas City from a dormant downtown to a vibrant, bustling urban core; and
WHEREAS, it is estimated, since November 11, 1985, Denise has booked over 1,000 events to Kansas City, welcoming nearly 2.3 million attendees, accounting for more than 2.75 million consumed room nights, generating a total estimated economic impact of $2.2 billion for our community, and
WHEREAS, among the many such notable groups she has helped bring to Kansas City are the Future Farmers of America, the VFW, The American Legion, and countless others whose presence has enriched our city’s culture and economy; and
WHEREAS, Denise has supported nine (9) different Chief Executive Officers from Jim Hutchinson to present-day Kathy Nelson and countless sales leaders during her tenure, adapting with grace, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to the mission of Visit KC; and
WHEREAS, Denise is a timeless treasure to Kansas City, whose legacy of excellence, humor, and hospitality has inspired generations of sales professionals and civic leaders; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY
That the Mayor and Council hereby extend their thanks and appreciation to Denise DeJulio, Visit KC, for her now 40 years and counting of unparallelled excellence of dedicated service and support; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Denise DeJulio as a token of the Mayor and Council’s thanks for putting Kansas City on the map for hosting meetings and conventions.
