RESOLUTION - Congratulating the Oak Park Northmen for winning the Class 6 Missouri State High School Championship in boys’ basketball.

WHEREAS, building upon a fourth-place finish in 2024, Oak Park went 31-1 finishing the season on a 30-game winning streak while scoring 73.8 points per game on offense and surrendering a mere 54.2 points per game on defense; and
WHEREAS, the Northmen went undefeated against teams from Kansas and Missouri including 3-0 against teams from St. Louis securing a victory over Class 4 state champion Vashon along the way; and
WHEREAS, the season culminated at Mizzou Arena on March 20, 2025, when the Northmen defeated Chaminade by a score of 68-60 to become the Class 6 state champions; and
WHEREAS, Class 6 consists of the 64 largest schools in Missouri, many with storied basketball histories; and
WHEREAS, Oak Park Head Coach Sherron Collins led the Oak Park Northmen to the state championship, alongside Adam Heslinga, Zane Tanner, David Bridger, Joe Miller and Kendon McClaine; and
WHEREAS, Oak Park players include Corbin Allen, Caleb Estes, Zeek Brown, Aedin Fields, Donovon Ross, Emanuel Kok, Josh Kori, Adam Tanner, Corbin Barnhill, Brody Vaughn, Jakaya Duff and Emanuel Deng; and
WHEREAS, Oak Park student managers for the team are Kale Williams, Lili Davis, Tatiana Jackson and Karla Rodriquez; and
WHEREAS, Oak Park High School is located in the City of Kansas City, Missouri and it is an honor to recognize the triumph and success of this team’s accomplishments this basketball season; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby congratulate the Oak Park High School Northmen for their Class 6 State High School Championship in boys’ basketball; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Oak Park Northmen Head Coach Sherron Collins and the Oak Park High School Northmen Men’s Basketball Team, with the Mayor and Council encouraging all citizens to join with them in their celebration.
