Authorizing a $1,525,440.00 construction contract with SHEDIGS IT, LLC, for the Water Main Replacement Truman Road Bridge from Oakland Avenue to the Little Blue River project; authorizing a maximum expenditure of $1,677,984.00; authorizing a $240,000.00 design professional services Amendment No. 1 under Contract No. 9934 with Crawford, Murphy & Tilly, Inc., for the Water Main Replacement in the Area of W. 42nd Street to W. 51st Street, State Line Road to The Paseo Boulevard project for a total contract amount of $1,155,000.00; and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.

WHEREAS, City Council approved Ordinance No. 250455 on June 12, 2025, authorizing a $915,000.00 design professional services contract (Contract No. 9934/Project No. 80002583) with Crawford, Murphy & Tilly, Inc., for the Water Main Replacement in the Area of W. 42nd Street to W. 51st Street, State Line Road to The Paseo Boulevard project; and
WHEREAS, Crawford, Murphy & Tilly, Inc. will be providing construction phase services under this proposed $240,000.00 Amendment No. 1 to the Water Main Replacement in the Area of W. 42nd Street to W. 51st Street, State Line Road to The Paseo Boulevard for follow on services for this Truman Road Bridge project during construction; and
WHEREAS, this proposed ordinance is for authorization of a construction project for the for the Water Main Replacement Truman Road Bridge from Oakland Avenue to the Little Blue River project and an Amendment No. 1 design professional services contract for the Water Main Replacement in the Area of W. 42nd Street to W. 51st Street, State Line Road to The Paseo Boulevard project; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That the Director of the Water Services Department is authorized to execute Contract No. 9916 in the amount of $1,525,440.00 with SHEDIGS IT, LLC, for the Water Main Replacement Truman Road Bridge from Oakland Avenue to the Little Blue River project, Project No. 80002502. A copy of the contract is on file in the office of Water Services.
Section 2. That the Director of Water Services Department is authorized to expend up to a maximum of $1,677,984.00 from Account No. AL-8082-807705-611060-80002502, Water Main Replacement Program, to satisfy the cost of this contract.
Section 3. That the Director of the Water Services Department is authorized to execute a design professional services Amendment No. 1 to Contract No. 9934 in the amount of $240,000.00 for a total contract amount of $1,155,000.00 with Crawford, Murphy & Tilly, Inc., for the Water Main Replacement in the Area of W. 42nd Street to W. 51st Street, State Line Road to The Paseo Boulevard project, Project No. 80002583. A copy of the amendment is on file in the office of Water Services.
Section 4. That the Director of the Water Services Department is authorized to expend up to a maximum of $240,000.00 from the following accounts to satisfy the cost of this amendment:
AL-8079-807705-611040-80002583 Water Main Replacement
Program $ 91,455.00
AL-8081-807705-611040-80002583 Water Main Replacement
Program 148,545.00
TOTAL $240,000.00
Section 5. That this ordinance, relating to the design, repair, maintenance or construction of a public improvement, is recognized as an ordinance with an accelerated effective date as provided by Section 503(a)(3)(D) of the City Charter and shall take effect in accordance with Section 503, City Charter.
