RESOLUTION - Recognizing and honoring Laurie Abbott for her distinguished career, exceptional dedication to public service, unwavering support of City leadership, and lasting contributions to the City of Kansas City, Missouri, and its residents.

WHEREAS, Laurie Abbott has exemplified dedication, integrity, and excellence throughout her esteemed professional career, including more than twenty-three (23) years of service prior to joining the City of Kansas City, Missouri; and
WHEREAS, Laurie began her service with the City of Kansas City, Missouri in July 2012 and, through her exceptional work ethic, professionalism, and commitment to public service, advanced to positions of increasing responsibility supporting executive leadership across the organization; and
WHEREAS, throughout her tenure, Laurie served with distinction as a trusted and respected resource to City Attorneys, Human Resources, Directors, City Managers, elected officials, and executive leadership, earning widespread admiration for her judgment, discretion, dependability, kindness and extensive institutional knowledge; and
WHEREAS, during periods of organizational transition and unprecedented challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, Laurie provided steadfast support, continuity, and leadership, helping to ensure the effective operation of City government and the continued delivery of services to Kansas City residents; and
WHEREAS, Laurie’s legacy of professionalism, dedication, and public service will endure through the many leaders, employees, and residents who have benefited from her steadfast commitment to the mission and values of the City of Kansas City, Missouri; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize, honor, and commend Laurie Abbott for her distinguished career of public service and express their profound gratitude and appreciation for her outstanding contributions to the City of Kansas City, Missouri; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council extend their best wishes to Laurie and celebrate her enduring legacy of service, professionalism, and excellence on behalf of the citizens of Kansas City.
