Estimating revenue and appropriating $17,077,692.00 in the Police Grants Fund for the FY27 FIFA World Cup Safety and Security Grant Program; and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.

WHEREAS, the Kansas City Police Department has been designated as the lead public safety and security agency responsible for planning, coordination, and operational implementation of safety measures for the FIFA World Cup 2026 matches and associated events hosted within Kansas City, Missouri; and
WHEREAS, as the lead law enforcement agency for these international events, the Kansas City Police Department is being provided funding to support overtime and equipment needs, NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That the revenue in the following account in the KCMBU Police Grants Fund is hereby estimated in the following additional amount:

Section 3. That the revenue in the following account in the KCPDU Police Grants Fund is hereby estimated in the following additional amount:
KCPDU-27-2390-210000-599900 Transfer from KCMBU $17,077,692.00
Section 4. That the sum of $17,077,692.00 is hereby appropriated from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the KCPDU Police Grants Fund to the following accounts in the KCPDU Police Grants Fund:

and Security $16,548,692.00
KCPDU-27-2390-212751-E FY27 FIFA World Cup Safety

TOTAL $17,077,692.00
Section 5. That the Board of Police Commissioners is designated as requisitioning authority for Account No. KCPDU 27-2390-212751.
Section 6. That this ordinance is recognized as having an accelerated effective date as provided by Section 503(a)(c) of the City Charter in that it appropriates money, and shall take effect in accordance with that section.
