RESOLUTION - Directing the City Manager to engage and partner with local discount prescription drug and wellness programs to provide Kansas City residents with discounts to health and wellness care, including but not limited to discounted pharmacy, nutrition, fitness, and preventive care offerings; and directing the City Manager to explore the feasibility of offering various discount programs for residents at the City's community centers and report back to Council in 60 days.

WHEREAS, many Kansas City residents continue to face barriers to accessing affordable healthcare services, prescription medications, and preventive wellness resources, particularly in underserved communities and neighborhoods with higher rates of chronic health conditions; and

WHEREAS, many senior citizens living on fixed incomes are struggling with the rising cost of everyday necessities, including housing, food, utilities, and healthcare, making access to affordable prescription medications or medical care increasingly difficult; and

WHEREAS, the Council recognizes the existence of private sector discount programs that seek to expand access to discounted pharmacy, medical care, and other wellness offerings for residents; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That the City Manager is directed to engage and partner with local discount prescription drug and wellness programs to provide Kansas City residents with discounts to health and wellness care, including but not limited to discounted pharmacy, nutrition, fitness, and preventive care offerings, all at no cost to the City.
