WHEREAS, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency seeks to enter into a Cooperative Agreement with the City of Kansas City, Missouri's Neighborhood Service Department's Office of Environmental Quality ("OEQ") to provide financial support in the form of a fixed grant award to fund a program through the Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling Grant Program, and

WHEREAS, increasing food rescue and diverting organic waste from the landfill contributes towards the City of Kansas City, Missouri's efforts to achieve carbon neutrality, food security, and meet additional goals outlined in the Climate Protection & Resiliency Plan, and

WHEREAS, the Food section of the Climate Protection & Resiliency Plan specifically contains Strategy F-2: Improve healthy and sustainable food access, and the Waste & Materials section specifically contains Strategy W-2: Divert organic waste from the landfill through composting, and

WHEREAS, the Cooperative Agreement between the City of Kansas City, Missouri, Office of Environmental Quality and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency awarded the OEQ a fixed sum of $5,000,000.00 to ...
