RESOLUTION - Honoring the 2023 LaunchKC grants cohort as they finish the program along with these startups over 100 LaunchKC alumni companies are helping build the next generation of great businesses, brands, and technologies in Kansas City, Missouri.

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City along with the Economic Development Corporation and the Downtown Council, want to create a world class environment for entrepreneurs; and

WHEREAS, LaunchKC is an initiative of both the Economic Development Corporation and the Downtown Council that is designed to propel entrepreneurship in Kansas City while retaining and attracting innovative startups and technologies. The initiative won a 2022 Excellence in Economic Development Award from the International Economic Development Council; and

WHEREAS, to date, LaunchKC companies have created close to 1,000 jobs, attracted over $400 million of follow on investment, and generated over $1 million of tax revenue annually for the City of Kansas City. Over two-thirds of LaunchKC companies are led by women and/or minorities; and

WHEREAS, in November 2022, Bryght Labs, Data Appraisal, EB Systems, Invent XYZ, MatchRite, and SeeInMe were the six companies that won the LaunchKC grants competition where over 200 startups applied. Each of these six companies were identified as having an innovative technology, and all have the potential to be future job creators and economic engines for Kansas City; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby extend their thanks and appreciation to Bryght Labs, Data Appraisal, EB Systems, Invent XYZ, MatchRite, and SeeInMe for completing the LaunchKC program and continuing to build their businesses in Kansas City, Missouri; and
