RESOLUTION - Honoring Patty Hilderbrand on her retirement after 26 years of dedicated service to the City of Kansas City, Missouri.

WHEREAS, Patty Hilderbrand joined the City of Kansas City, Missouri in 1997 as a graduate engineer in the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department and was promoted within the department to serve as the first female Division Manager in the Department's history; and
WHEREAS, Patty has directed major flood mitigation and transportation projects; implemented two city-wide project management systems and a department-wide asset management program; managed the City's transit operations with the KCATA; implemented the City's first bicycle and trails plan; serves as the Quality Assurance Manager for the KC Streetcar project; and has helped secure over $250M in federal funds for Kansas City's capital projects; and
WHEREAS, Patty earned a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering in 1993 and a master's degree in Public Administration in 2011 from the University of Kansas; and
WHEREAS, Patty is an active member of the American Public Works Association (APWA), serving on and chairing numerous committees at both the national and local level, including the National Board of Directors where she helped found the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure and develop Envision, a tool for evaluating the sustainability of horizontal infrastructure; and
WHEREAS, Patty has received numerous awards including the APWA's National Young Leader of the Year in 2003, the APWA's Top 10 Public Works Leader of the Year in 2017, and Kansas City Chapter of the Women in Transportation Seminar's Woman of the Year in 2021; and
WHEREAS, in addition to her professional work, Patty is also committed to activities with her church, young people and her family. She has been married to her husband Matt for twenty-nine years and...
