RESOLUTION - Honoring Fairway, Kansas Police Officer Jonathan "Jonah" Alejandro Salazar-Oswald.

WHEREAS, all police officers in Kansas City, Missouri and its surrounding communities are on the front lines; and
WHEREAS, Fairway, Kansas Police Department Officer Jonathan "Jonah" Alejandro Salazar-Oswald was dedicated to keeping the Fairway community safe, putting others before himself and helping others at every opportunity; and
WHEREAS, Officer Oswald was a four-year veteran of the Fairway, Kansas Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Officer Oswald was injured in the line of duty on August 6, 2023, while attempting to apprehend two suspects that posed a danger to the community and his fellow officers; and
WHEREAS, Officer Oswald succumbed to his injuries on August 7, 2023 at the University of Kansas Medical Center; and
WHEREAS, Officer Oswald’s passing is a loss for his family, friends, fellow officers and first responders throughout the region, and the entire Fairway, Kansas community for which he served so honorably, NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby honor the life and service of Officer Jonathan "Jonah" Alejandro Salazar-Oswald; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Officer Jonathan "Jonah" Alejandro Salazar-Oswald’s family in recognition of his dedication and service to the Fairway, Kansas Police Department.
