RESOLUTION - Recognizing International Adolescent Health Week at Children's Mercy Hospital.

WHEREAS International Adolescent Health Week recognizes the importance of supporting young people during a critical stage of life and promotes awareness of the many programs, partnerships, and services that help adolescents thrive; and

WHEREAS, investing in adolescent health through prevention, education, and early intervention creates healthier individuals and more resilient communities; and

WHEREAS, community-based outreach efforts that proactively address mental health, nutrition, physical activity, substance use prevention, healthy relationships, and access to care can help prevent illness and improve long-term health outcomes; and

WHEREAS, Children's Mercy is a nationally recognized leader in pediatric and adolescent health, through clinical care, research, and community partnerships that promote health and prevent disease; and

WHEREAS, International Adolescent Health Week provides an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of adolescents, raise awareness of their unique health needs, and spread awareness of organizations such as Children’s Mercy and community partners dedicated to helping them achieve healthy and successful futures; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY: 
  
That the Mayor and Council hereby  recognize and celebrate International Adolescent Health Week, honoring the importance of promoting the health, well-being, and resilience of adolescents and commend the healthcare professionals, educators, advocates, families, and community partners whose dedication helps ensure that young people have access to the care, resources, and support they need to thrive; and
