Directing the City Manager to develop and execute an efficient system that tracks legislation and directing the City Manager to provide updates at Council business sessions regardless of the timeframe of the legislation requirement, and establishing an annual evaluation.

WHEREAS, the City Manager is responsible for carrying out the City Council's policy direction through the day-to-day management of City functions, including the oversight of City operating departments; and
WHEREAS, accountability in government is equally important to a well-functioning municipality; and
WHEREAS, citizens can best be engaged and hold their government accountable when they are informed and have access of information; and
WHEREAS, can strengthen the Council and City Manager relationship by enhancing the excellence and continuity of the management of legislation for the benefit and on behalf of the citizens of Kansas City; and
WHEREAS, the City Council directs the City Manager to provide every City department benchmark update on improvements and or concerns at Council businesses session; and
WHEREAS, a process and procedures should be created to show the statutes and or completion of legislation; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That the City Manager is directed to develop and execute an efficient system that tracks legislation.
Section 2. That the City Manager is directed to provide quarterly updates to the Council on the status of the tracking system for evaluation by the Council at a business session.
Section 3. That the City Manager is directed to provide an annual update to the Council on the status of the tracking system for evaluation by the Council at a business session.
