RESOLUTION - Appointing Kevin McManus as a member of the City Council to serve the remainder of the unexpired term of the vacant Sixth District At-Large Council position.

WHEREAS, former Councilperson Andrea Bough resigned her position as the member of the City Council representing the Sixth Councilmanic District as its At-Large councilperson effective August 31, 2026; and
WHEREAS, Section 208(b) of the City’s Charter provides that “any vacancy in the office of a member of the Council occurring after the end of the thirtieth month of a term shall be filled for the unexpired term by appointment of the Mayor and Council;” and
WHEREAS, Kevin McManus is a qualified voter and taxpayer of the City and a resident of the Sixth District and the City for the requisite period of time required for membership in the City Council as set forth in Section 204 of the City’s Charter; and
WHEREAS, the Council now desires to make an appointment to fill the Council vacancy; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Council hereby appoints Kevin McManus as a member of the City Council to serve the remainder of the current unexpired term of the vacant Sixth District At-Large Council position.
