RESOLUTION - Recognizing Anton Washington and thanking him for his years-long dedication to curbing homelessness in Kansas City, Missouri.

WHEREAS, Anton Washington is a native of Kansas City, Missouri. Mr. Martinus "Anton Washington" Curry went to Northeast High School and later graduated from Ruskin High School in 1995. He went on to obtain his AAS in Sociology, with a minor in Business Administration from Cedar Valley Community College in 2008; and
WHEREAS, Anton collaborated with the Downtown Community Improvement District and the City of Kansas City, Missouri to create and deliver emergency homeless services at the Scott Eicke Warming Center, where he helped those who were homeless and in need of overnight shelter and human service provisions; and
WHEREAS, in 2018, Anton Washington established the nonprofit organization Creative & Innovative Entrepreneurs in order to continue serving the most vulnerable populations in Kansas City. In 2022, the name was changed to Creative Innovative, and the organization has since greatly helped Kansas Citians access the resources they need to combat houselessness; and
WHEREAS, Anton worked on behalf of Creative Innovative Entrepreneurs to make the Scott Eicke Warming Center successful and participated in the successful delivery of over 14,000 bed nights with an average of 307 guests per night and over 28,000 hot meals served, saving countless lives; and
WHEREAS, Creative Innovative has been providing stable housing for the unhoused, those with evictions, and those with other difficult circumstances for going on 2 years. Since 2021, Creative Innovative has housed well over 200 people, 92 of which were housed in 2023 alone; and
