RESOLUTION - Recognizing Kansas City Current and directing the City Manager to fly the Kansas City Current flag at City Hall in celebration of Kansas City Current Spirit Week ahead of the team's playoff campaign.

WHEREAS, Kansas City Current, our professional women's soccer team and proud representative of Kansas City, has dominated the field throughout the 2025 regular season, setting numerous records including the single season records for total wins, clean sheets, the single season points record, and were the fastest team to ever win the NWSL Shield; and
WHEREAS, players such as Izzy Rodriguez, Lorena, and reigning NWSL Most Valuable Player Temwa Chawinga, helped guide the Kansas City Current to a NWSL record 17 game undefeated streak; and
WHEREAS, Kansas City Current has inspired fans of all ages, uplifted women's sports, and strengthened civic pride through their success, leadership, and community engagement; and
WHEREAS, Kansas City Current has designated the week of Monday, November 3 to Sunday, November 9, 2025 as Spirit Week, encouraging supporters throughout the city to rally behind the team as they prepare for the 2025 NWSL Playoffs; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to celebrate Spirit Week and show its support for the Kansas City Current throughout their 2025 NWSL playoff run as they look to bring home the NWSL Championship Trophy to Kansas City; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to fly the Kansas City Current flag at City Hall during KC Current Spirit Week and for the duration of the Kansas City Current's NWSL playoff campaign to symbolize our City's support for its professional women's soccer team and to recognize their efforts to elevate Kansas City on a national stage; NOW, THEREFORE,
