Accepting and approving a $101,574.00 contract with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services to conduct childcare sanitation inspections in Kansas City, Missouri; estimating and appropriating $101,574.00 in the Health Grant Fund; and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.

WHEREAS, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) will regulate and permit approximately 450 facilities in the City of Kansas City to care for children during daytime and nighttime operations; and
WHEREAS, the State (DHSS) will contract with the Kansas City, Missouri Health Department (KCHD) to conduct inspections of these permitted facilities to assure that the children are cared for in a safe and healthful environment; and
WHEREAS, inspections will focus on disease prevention; safe food handling; safe storage of toxic agents, cleaners, and medicines; pest control; safe water supplies; basic evaluation and control of lead hazards and other environmental hazards in all regulated child care facilities; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY
Section 1. That a contract between the City of Kansas City, Missouri, acting though its Director of Health (the "Director"), and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services ("DHSS"), whereby DHSS will provide funding to conduct childcare sanitation inspections in Kansas City, Missouri, for a period beginning October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2028, for an amount not to exceed $101,574.00 is hereby accepted and approved. A copy of the award, in substantial form, is on file with the Director.
Section 2. That revenue in the following account of the Health Grants Fund is hereby estimated in the following amount:
