RESOLUTION - Declaring the week of April 13-19, 2025, as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week and recognizing the work of those 911 dispatchers across the Kansas City, Missouri area.

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, Missouri's citizens depend on life saving assistance provided by 911 Telecommunicators in their time of extreme need; and

WHEREAS their jobs are very stressful, and they do not know what the next call will be, always stay calm and collected and direct the first responder to the location with all the information they can provide; and

WHEREAS, during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, April 13-19, 2025, all residents are invited to join along with communities in Kansas City and nationwide by recognizing these employees who perform this life saving work; and

WHEREAS, Public Safety 911 Telecommunicators answer calls 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, from citizens possibly having the worst moment of their life, calmly directing aid to those in need; and

WHEREAS, by recognizing the contributions they provide to all who call Kansas City home; and

WHEREAS, let's all come together to show our appreciation to these employees who are 911 Public Safety Telecommunicators; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby declares April 13-19, 2025, as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week in Kansas City, Missouri; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Kansas City's 911 Dispatchers, with the Mayor and Council encouraging all residents to recognize the contributions of those 911 dispatch employees in providing vital services to the City of Kansas City, Missouri and surrounding communities.
