Increasing the compensation of the City Clerk by 7.0% to $108,684.18; reappointing Marilyn Sanders as the City Clerk for an additional term not to exceed 3 years; and authorizing the Mayor to negotiate and execute a second amendment to the MOU with Marilyn Sanders.

WHEREAS, on October 8, 2020, the City Council approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to reappoint Marilyn Sanders as City Clerk in Ordinance 200876; and

WHEREAS, the MOU was originally for a term of three years ending October 5, 2023 and was previously amended to extend the term for one year until October 5, 2024; and

WHEREAS, the MOU includes provisions allowing for increases to the City Clerk's compensation after an annual performance review; and

WHEREAS, the City Council has conducted the 2024 annual review of the City Clerk's performance and has determined an increase in their annual compensation is warranted; NOW THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That the annual base salary of the City Clerk, Marilyn Sanders, is hereby increased by 7.0% to $108,684.18, retroactive to June 28, 2024.

Section 2. That Marilyn Sanders is reappointed as City Clerk for an additional term not to exceed 3 years effective October 5, 2024.

Section 3. That the Mayor is authorized to negotiate and execute in the name of the City a second amendment to the MOU, which shall include terms consistent with this Ordinance.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
