RESOLUTION - Honoring Councilman Brandon Ellington on his four years of service as the Third District At-Large representative where he served on the Neighborhood, Planning, and Development Committee, and the Special Committee on Housing Policy, where he served as Vice-Chair.

WHEREAS, Councilman Brandon Ellington has sponsored and co-sponsored over 100 ordinances, special actions and resolutions. Councilman Ellington's most notable resolutions and ordinances are Resolution No. 190759, which directed the City Manager to develop a plan to help reduce illegal dumping; Resolution No. 190858, which directed the City Manager to identify City owned property that can be used as low rent "Support Hubs" for nonprofit organizations; and Ordinance No. 210140, which established an Office of Citizen Engagement to assist residents in understanding and accessing City government and services; and

WHEREAS, Councilman Brandon Ellington has hosted over 50 community events such as jobs fairs which emphasized assisting felons and low-income recipients. Councilman Ellington also hosted bi-weekly food drives and visited and spoken at over 20 elementary and high schools; and

WHEREAS, Councilman Brandon Ellington has inspected several apartments with code violations with the Health Department's Healthy Homes Program. Councilman Ellington has followed up with over 200 of the City's 311 cases by walking over 50 neighborhoods and engaging with residents who sent in complaints; and

WHEREAS. Councilman Brandon Ellington created the "No More Excuses Coalition" which consists of businesses, non-profits and individuals committed to community improvements and policies. Councilman Ellington also held monthly first Friday mixers where the community could address any concerns they had for City department representatives; and
