RESOLUTION - Recognizing Jeffrey Williams for his service as Director of City Planning and Development for Kansas City, and for over 30 years of service in planning for Kansas City and other local governments.

WHEREAS, Jeffrey Williams, after receiving a Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute, began his career in the Bureau of Planning for his home city of Yonkers, New York, and went on to serve as the Commissioner of Planning and Development for the City of Yonkers, New York, and as the Commissioner of Planning and Community Development for the City of Mount Vernon, New York; and

WHEREAS, Jeffrey began working for the Department of City Planning and Development of Kansas City in 2013 as Principal Assistant Department Head, before becoming Director of the Department in 2015; and

WHEREAS, Director Williams has led a staff team of over 100 professionals to shape the present and future growth and of Kansas City, overseeing projects of revitalization and development across the Power and Light District, Downtown Kansas City, the Riverfront, 18th and Vine, Troost Avenue, and beyond; and

WHEREAS, Jeffrey has overseen projects critical to Kansas City's local and national future, from the development of thousands of new housing units and single-family homes to the $1.5 billion new Airport Terminal; and

WHEREAS, Jeffrey has been involved in planning on behalf of local governments for over 30 years, and has used his expertise in urban planning, economic development, and community development to establish programs such as the Choice Neighborhoods program, as well as leading the creation of the KC Spirit Playbook - a comprehensive plan laying out a vision for Kansas City's growth across the next 20 years; NOW, THEREFORE,
