RESOLUTION - Directing the City Auditor to conduct a performance audit to assess the timeliness of the issuance of Residential Single-Family Housing Building Permits between January 1, 2023 and April 30, 2024 and report back to the City Council 90 days after the adoption of this resolution.

WHEREAS, the City Council desires to improve the time for issuance for Residential Single- Family Housing Building Permits (“Permits”); and
WHEREAS, the City Council needs data to establish a baseline for performance standards and to set performance standards for the issuance of Permits; and
WHEREAS, the audit should at least identify the number of Permits issued, the average time from application to Permit issuance, the number of Permits pending, and the average time in process for pending Permits; and
WHEREAS, the audit can also include the City Auditor’s observations on the Permit issuance; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the City Auditor is directed to conduct a performance audit to assess the timeliness of the issuance of Residential Single-Family Housing Building Permits between January 1, 2023 and April 30, 2024 and report back to the City Council 90 days after the adoption of this resolution.
