RESOLUTION - Honoring David E. Sims on his retirement after 26 years of dedicated to the City of Kansas City.

WHERAS, Mr. David E. Sims began his career with the City of Kansas City, Missouri in 1991 as contract employee with Streetlight Services headed by James Lee PE. Because of his exceptional work in plan review, was hired as a City employee in 2000; and
WHERAS, this during the time of the City streetlight upgrade project with Kansas City Power & Light (KCP&L) and Custom Lighting Services (CLS) and more than 90, 000 streetlights were upgraded and newly built into the system, which Kansas City eventually purchased; and
WHEREAS, after completion of design phase, Mr. Sims was then moved to construction to assist with inspection and installation efforts and served in this role for more than 20 years; and
WHEREAS, for more than 26 years, Mr. Sims was also asked to assist snow removal efforts and spent several years in inspection of snow contractors, then later as a snow plow driver for residential areas; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Sims was also given many compliments from citizens over several years on his dedication and hard work in cleaning city streets of snow working long hours, on weekends and holidays; and
WHEREAS, after more than 26 years of City service, Mr. Sims has decided to enter retirement, and begin new chapter in life where he is an active member of local 500 union chapter, and intends to continue to serve our community; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby honor David E. Sims on his retirement after 26 years of dedicated service to the City of Kansas City; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to David E. Sims in token of the Mayor an...
