RESOLUTION - Honoring Sam Hennenfent for his outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments.

WHEREAS, Sam Hennenfent’s commitment to competitive swimming began when he was in the 8th grade; and
WHEREAS, in his four years as a varsity swimmer at Staley High School, Sam was a two-time Missouri state champion in the 500-yard freestyle swimming; and
WHEREAS, Sam has set four school records and a has been named a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American three times; and
WHEREAS, Sam has also maintained a 4.75 weighted GPA, placing him at the top of his class; and
WHEREAS, Sam was the vice-president of Staley High School’s National Honor Society, a National Merit semifinalist, and a two-time AP Scholar with Distinction; and
WHEREAS, this fall, Sam will attend Duke University on a scholarship, where he plans to pursue a degree in biomedical engineering; and
WHEREAS, Sam Hennenfent was recently named the Kansas City Star’s Boys Scholar-Athlete of the Year for his academic and athletic accomplishments; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby honor Sam Hennenfent for his outstanding achievements and wish him continued success in his academic and athletic endeavors; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Sam Hennenfent with the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for his many accomplishments.
