RESOLUTION - Honoring the Alpha Delta Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., on its 90th anniversary and recognizing its legacy of service and leadership.

WHEREAS, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, was founded on January 9, 1914, at Howard University in Washington, D.C., by A. Langston Taylor, Leonard F. Morse, and Charles I. Brown, on the principles of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service; and
WHEREAS, guided by the motto "Culture for Service and Service for Humanity," the fraternity promotes youth development, community empowerment, and education through its programs in Bigger and Better Business, Education, Social Action, and the Sigma Beta Club; and
WHEREAS, Phi Beta Sigma and its sister organization, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, form the only constitutionally bound brother-sister partnership among the Divine Nine; and
WHEREAS, the Alpha Delta Sigma Chapter has continuously demonstrated its dedication to Kansas City through service projects such as the Back-to-School Drive, Holiday Toy Drive, partnerships with Harvesters Food Bank, Get Out the Vote and Voter Protection initiatives, and the annual Community Impact Awards Gala that recognizes local excellence and civic leadership; and
WHEREAS, for 90 years the Chapter has served Kansas City through initiatives such as back-to-school drives, voter engagement, food and toy distributions, and the annual Community Impact Awards Gala; and
WHEREAS, the Chapter will celebrate its 90th anniversary on October 25, 2025, honoring a legacy of excellence and community impact; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
