RESOLUTION - Honoring Douglas Jones for his 31 years of service with the City of Kansas City, Missouri.

WHEREAS, Douglas Jones is leaving the City after 31 years of public service to city government and the residents of Kansas City; and

WHEREAS, Douglas has a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Marketing and a Master of Business Administration Degree from Wichita State University, and is a Certified Government Auditing Professional, Certified Internal Auditor, and holds a Certification in Risk Management Assurance; and

WHEREAS, Douglas has contributed to government auditing as a member of the U.S. Comptroller General's Domestic Working Group, chair of the Mid-America Intergovernmental Audit Forum, and served as chair of the Association of Local Government Auditors' Advocacy Committee; and

WHEREAS, Douglas joined the City Auditor's Office in January 1994 as an Auditor, was promoted to Senior Auditor in 1996, became the Aviation Department's Internal Auditor in 2002, returned to the office as an Audit Manager in 2007, and was appointed City Auditor on June 29, 2013; and

WHEREAS, during his 111/2 years as City Auditor, the office released 84 audit reports containing 473 recommendations identifying about $70 million in potential increased revenues or reduced costs, ways to improve the delivery of City services, and ensure controls were in place to manage or protect about $857 million in public funds or assets; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure as City Auditor, the office was awarded Knighton Awards for best performance audit by the Association of Local Government Auditors in 2020 and 2022; and

WHEREAS, Douglas always accepted his responsibility to serve the public interest and conducted his work ethically and objectively, with integrity and the highest level of professionalism; NOW, THEREFORE,
