Accepting and approving a $15,000.00 grant award amendment from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services to establish an Enhanced Gonococcal Isolate Surveillance Project (eGISP) site in Kansas City, Missouri; estimating and appropriating $15,000.00 in the Governmental Grants Fund; and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.

WHEREAS, the Gonococcal Isolate Surveillance Project (GISP) has served as a national sentinel surveillance system for Neisseria gonorrhoeae strains in the United States for over three decades and establishes a rational basis for the selection of gonococcal therapies; and
WHEREAS, Federal agencies use the GISP data to develop national treatment recommendations and set research and prevention priorities; while, state and local governments use the data to determine allocation of STD prevention services and resources, guide prevention planning and communicate best treatment practices to health care providers; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That a grant award amendment in the amount of $15,000.00 between the City of Kansas City, Missouri, acting through its Director of Health, and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, acting through its Director of Administration, whereby the State will provide funding to establish an Enhanced Gonococcal Isolate Surveillance Project (eGISP) site for the period beginning August 1, 2023 through July 31, 2024, for a total award amount not to exceed $46,262.00, is hereby accepted and approved. A copy of the contract, in substantial form, is attached hereto and made a part by reference.
Section 2. That revenue in the following account of the Governmental Grants Fund is hereby estimated in the following amounts:
