RESOLUTION - Honoring Alicia Phillips on her retirement after 30 years of dedicated service to the City of Kansas City of which all 30 years have been with the Public Works Department serving the residents of City of Kansas City, Missouri.

WHEREAS, Ms. Phillips started her career with the City of Kansas City in the Public Works Department in 1992 as a summer hire doing construction inspection. After working 3 summers while completing an associate's degree, Alicia moved from a temporary employee to a permanent employee in the fall of 1994 working first in the survey section then transitioning to permit inspection and later to senior permit inspector and then to inspection manager and lastly managing permit issuance and inspections; and

WHEREAS, Alicia has also served a vital role in the residential snow removal program, being assigned a residential route every winter since the inception of the residential snow program, prior to moving into the management role; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Phillips transitioned from being a field employee in August of 2021 when she began managing the permit issuance group on the 5th floor of City Hall. She has been called upon many times to issue road closure permits for the numerous events for City Hall that require a closure of 11th Street along with the City's festival permits; and

WHEREAS, let it also be recognized while working for the City of Kansas City, Alicia had the honor of writing permits for two Superbowl parades and a permit for the road closures associated with the NFL Draft; and

WHEREAS, July 31, 2024, marks the last day of Alicia's career with the Kansas City, Missouri Public Works Department and the City of Kansas City, Missouri; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby extend to Alicia Phillips, on the occasion of her retirement from the Kansa...
