WHEREAS, Cultivate Kansas City has accepted a Federal Demonstration Partnership Cost Reimbursement Award from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for Filling the Gaps in Access to Land and Capital for Kansas City-Area Urban Farmers and the City of Kansas City was identified as a subawardee in the grant application; and

WHEREAS, reducing zoning and policy barriers and increasing urban farming efforts will allow the City of Kansas City to increase production of local food and improve healthy and sustainable food access as outlined in the City's 2022 Climate Protection & Resiliency Plan; and

WHEREAS, the Food section of the Climate Protection & Resiliency Plan specifically contains Short-Term Action F-1.5: Establish a coordinator position for food systems planning and community collaboration at the municipal level; and

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City Office of Environmental Quality was awarded $390,303.00 through a Federal Demonstration Partnership Cost Reimbursement Subaward from pass-through entity, Cultivate Kansas City, originally awarded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, for the establishment of a 4-year Food Systems Coordinator position; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That revenue in the amount of $390,303.00 is hereby estimated in the following account of the General Grants Fund:
