RESOLUTION - Honoring Chris Herrera on his retirement after 30 years 11 months of dedicated service to the City of Kansas City, Missouri.

WHEREAS, Chris joined the City of Kansas City, Missouri on April 25, 1994, and spent his entire career working in the Water Services Department; and

WHEREAS, Chris's career started as an Assistant Water Plant Manager in the Maintenance Section at the Water Treatment Plant; and

WHEREAS, Chris transferred to the Facilities Engineering Division as a Registered Professional Engineer on April 14, 1997, then promoted to a Senior Registered Professional Engineer on April 16, 2006, and then promoted to an Engineering Section Head on November 6, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Chris was awarded the Young Engineer of the Year award by the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers Western Chapter in 1997; and

WHEREAS, Chris is grateful for the loving support of his wife, Valerie, and children Katherine Herrera-Lai and Benjamin, and his son-in-law Tony Lai for their years of support including call-ins and night work; and

WHEREAS, Chris is also grateful for the smart and dedicated co-workers, consultants, and contractors that he worked with over the years, and for the opportunity to serve the City with so many varied and interesting challenges including managing 90 water and wastewater treatment projects, pump station projects, and providing technical expertise in related control systems and electrical systems; and

WHEREAS, April 1, 2025, will mark the last day of Chris's career with the City of Kansas City, Missouri; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor Chris Herrera on his retirement after 30 years 11 months of dedicated service to the City of Kansas City, Missouri; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes...
