RESOLUTION - Recognizing the 2025 Chicano Art Festival & Lowrider/Custom Car Show.

WHEREAS, the Chicano Art Festival, taking place on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Liberty Courtyard in the West Bottoms of Kansas City, Missouri, is an annual celebration of the vibrant and diverse contributions of the Chicano and Latino communities to the cultural and artistic fabric of our city; and

WHEREAS, organized by the Chicano Center for the Arts, formerly known as the Latino Arts Foundation, this festival is a grassroots initiative that supports and uplifts local artists, cultural practitioners, and entrepreneurs through community-based programming and mentorship; and

WHEREAS, the festival provides a platform for aspiring and experienced Chicano and Latino artists, showcasing dynamic expressions of creativity through visual arts, live painting, poetry, and traditional performances that reflect the rich cultural heritage of the community; and

WHEREAS, the Chicano Art Festival proudly hosts the largest lowrider showcase and hop contest in Kansas City, celebrating a unique and important element of Chicano cultural identity and automotive artistry; and

WHEREAS, the festival promotes economic opportunity and visibility for local entrepreneurs and vendors, offering handcrafted goods, original artworks, and authentic food that highlights the flavors of the community; and

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City recognizes the importance of honoring and preserving the cultural legacy and ongoing contributions of the Chicano and Latino communities to our shared social and artistic landscape; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor and commend the 2025 Chicano Art Festival and the Chicano Center for the Arts for their continued efforts in promoting cultural awareness...
