Honoring the life of the Kansas City Aviation Employee Austin Brooks.

WHEREAS, Austin Brooks worked in the Kansas City Aviation Department for nearly eight years, serving Kansas Citians as a Maintenance Mechanic in the Field Maintenance Division; and

WHEREAS, Austin was well-respected by his co-workers at the Kansas City Aviation Department, where he was considered an expert equipment operator who was a quick study with a high degree of mechanical aptitude; and

WHEREAS, Austin is remembered as being a dedicated employee who was willing to step up as a leader, take on new responsibilities, and was trusted with completing tasks from beginning to end; and

WHEREAS, Austin suffered a medical emergency while working at Kansas City International Airport (MCI) on Wednesday, September 18 and subsequently passed away at the age of 31; and

WHEREAS, Austin's passing is a devastating loss for the members of the Kansas City Aviation Department who are grateful for his dedicated service of nearly eight years to the residents of Kansas City and travelers throughout the region; and

WHEREAS, Austin is survived by his son, Corbin Lane Brooks, daughter Addilynn Grace Edwards, parents Jerry and Tiffany Brooks, sister Haley (Tyler) Reynolds, brother Jason Brooks, grandparents Mike Doak and Nora Brooks, and many others; and

WHEREAS, the Kansas City community sends its condolences to the family and friends of Austin Brooks, as well as members of the Kansas City Aviation Department; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor Austin Brooks and family, friends, and fellow members of the Kansas City Aviation Department; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Austin Brooks' family to commemo...
