RESOLUTION - Recognizing Krista Morrison for her service to Kansas City and wishing her well on the next steps in her career.

WHEREAS, Krista Morrison received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Economics from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, and is currently receiving her certification in Public Leadership from the Harvard Kennedy School; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Morrison began working with the City of Kansas City in 2007 as an Analyst in the Budget Office, before briefly working in the private sector, and returning to the City in 2010 as an Analyst with our Municipal Court, ascending to the role of Deputy Court Administrator; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Morrison returned to the Finance Department in 2014, serving as Assistant Budget Officer before moving to the Parks Department and serving as its Fiscal Officer and subsequently as its Deputy Director, and in 2021, Ms. Morrison returned to the Finance Department, where she has served as Budget Officer and Deputy Director since; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Morrison made significant contributions to the City during her career and championed best practices in capital planning and budgeting, introducing the concept of priority-based budgeting first in the Parks Department and most recently to the larger City budget; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Morrison is known for her collaborative work with department leaders to improve the Citywide Business Plan and Five-Year Financial Plan and spent years championing equity in provision of Parks and Recreation services; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Morrison will be leaving Kansas City, and will be missed in City Hall, as she will be entering a new chapter in her career as the Chief Financial Officer for the City of Boulder, Colorado, leading its Finance Department to oversee budgeting, accounting, procurement, revenue collection, and regulated industries; NOW, THEREFORE
