RESOLUTION - Recognizing the graduates of Community Engagement University for the Fall 2025 term.

WHEREAS, Community Engagement University is a program started in the Spring of 2014 with the intent of informing, educating, engaging, and working with the community; and
WHEREAS, hundreds of community members have taken part in this class over its eleven-year journey, and the impacts are significant; and
WHEREAS, the goal of the program has also been to encourage, inform and interest citizens by educating them about local government, facilitating dialogue and participation, empowering citizens with information and skills, and promoting community involvement; and
WHEREAS, each year, members of our community take part in this class because of their commitment to the betterment of our community, and it is important that we continue to have community members with this same ethic; and
WHEREAS, this resolution recognizes and congratulates the 21 individuals who participated in this year's class, and the leaders that taught the class; and
WHEREAS, this program concludes with a more informed public, better quality of living, and better knowledge of local governments; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize and congratulate the graduates of the Fall 2025 Community Engagement University Cohort for their hard work and determination; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy thereof be presented to Pete Rios and Sarah Beahm as a token of the Mayor and Council's appreciation for each individual's many hours of dedicated time towards improving their knowledge of government, and for the best wishes for all of the years to come.
