RESOLUTION - Recognizing and honoring Mr. Stanley E. Banks.

WHEREAS, Stanley E. Banks, was born in 1956, his Grandmother was a Bootlegger on Vine Street in Kansas City, Missouri and his Grandfather was a World War I Veteran. Stanley E. Banks is a Graduate of Howard University and University of Missouri-Kansas City Undergraduate and Graduate School; and
WHEREAS, Stanley E. Banks has been a poet, English professor, artist-in- residence at Avila University for 25 years, and the Advisor and Creative Director for Avila University's student literary magazine titled SOUND AND FURY for 24 years; and
WHEREAS, Stanley E. Banks won the Langston Hughes prize for Poetry in 1981, and in 1989 he was awarded the National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship/Grant; and
WHEREAS, Stanley E. Banks has five books of poetry published, On 10th Alley Way, Coming from A Funky Time and Place, Rhythm and Guts, Blue Beat Syncopation, and Blue Issues. He edited two books: Stewed Soul and On the Edge of Urban, and also published many poems in magazines, journals, newspapers, and an online publication; and
WHEREAS, Stanley E. Banks has received recognition and awards from The United Minority Media Association's Leadership from the Midwest-Southeast Regional Conference; The Special Exhibit of Stanley E.
