RESOLUTION - Recognizing Daren Gilliam as a proud public servant for the Kansas City community for over 20 years.

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City recognizes Daren Gilliam who, for over two decades, dedicated himself to public service from August 2002 until his untimely passing in June 2024; and

WHEREAS, Daren started his service with the City of Kansas City in the Revenue Division of the Finance Department as a Taxpayer Specialist working on the second floor of City Hall. He worked the same position until his passing; and

WHEREAS, prior to serving in the Revenue Division, Daren was a proud member of the United States Army. During his time in the armed services, Daren served overseas until his honorable discharge in 1990; and

WHEREAS, Daren was a gentle soul with a kind heart who never spoke ill of those around him. His calm nature and gentle spirit will be missed dearly by all who knew him; and

WHEREAS, Daren passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on his way to work. Daren leaves behind his son, Kefing Gilliam, his brother, Michael Gilliam as well as many other relatives, friends, and his coworkers in the Finance Department who remember Daren fondly; and

WHEREAS, today we celebrate the life of public servant Daren Gilliam. Though he no longer walks among us, his kind heart and gentle soul will be remembered by the family, friends, and coworkers that he leaves behind; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby posthumously recognize Daren Gilliam for his outstanding service to the City of Kansas City, Missouri Finance Department; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the family of Daren Gilliam in token of the deep and sincere sympathy hereby extended to his family and friends on behalf of the Ci...
