RESOLUTION - Declaring the week of May 18-24, 2025, as National Public Works Week in Kansas City, Missouri.

WHEREAS, this year's National Public Works Week theme of "People, Purpose, Presence" highlights three cornerstone ideals that motivate public works professionals to serve in their communities every day; and

WHEREAS, Public Works connections help keep our community strong by providing leadership and education in programs such as transportation, project and construction management, street maintenance, street signs and markings, solid waste, neighborhood cleanups, illegal dumping, traffic engineering, streetlights and traffic lights, permitting and permit inspection, complete streets, sidewalk repair, public parking, tow lot, administration, and the various services that support multimodal transportation that make our community a great place to live and work; and

WHEREAS, Public Works professionals focus on infrastructure, facilities and services that are of vital importance to sustainable and resilient communities and to the public health, high quality of life, and well-being of the people of Kansas City, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, the year 2025 marks the 65th annual National Public Works Week sponsored by the American Public Works Association; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby declare the week of May 18-24, 2025 as National Public Works Week, pay tribute to our public works professionals, engineers, managers and employees, and recognize the substantial contributions they make to our health, safety, and quality of life; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Public Works Director Michael Shaw as a token of the Mayor and Council's re...
