RESOLUTION - Directing the City Manager to identify funding sources and develop a plan to restore Blue River Road; directing the City Manager to forgo altering any portion of Blue River Road until a restoration plan is complete; and declaring the Council’s intent to preserve Blue River Road as a historic automobile corridor.

WHEREAS, Blue River Road has served as transportation link to southern Jackson County and offered a scenic route to travelers from when it was first constructed in the 1920s; and
WHEREAS, parts of the road have been closed due to deterioration over the last decade; and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes it is in the best interest of south Kansas City residents to restore the road to ensure it is operational; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That the City Manager is directed to identify funding sources and develop a plan to reconstruct or repair Blue River Road for the purpose of restoring the road so it is operational and report back to Council within 60 days.
Section 2. That the City Manager is directed to forgo altering any portion of Blue River Road prior to the completion of the plan detailed in Section 1.
Section 3. Declaring the intent of the City Council to preserve Blue River Road as an historic automobile corridor.
