RESOLUTION - Honoring Michaela Mays on her retirement after 32 years of dedication to the City of Kansas City.

WHEREAS, Ms. Mays began her career with the City of Kansas City, Missouri in 1993 - 1994 as an equipment operator in Wastewater and served as a Labor Leader Pipeline from 1994 - 1998; and
WHEREAS, she was promoted to General Supervisor Pipeline in 1998 - 2006; and
WHERAS, Ms. Mays was the Women’s First Award Winner as the first Black Woman General Supervisor in Water Services; and
WHEREAS, in the years 2006 - 2014, Ms. Mays was an Engineering Technician Lead III in Public Works; and
WHERAS, Ms. Mays moved to the Water Services Department to serve as the Customer Service Supervisor and Administrative Officer in the Dispatch Division for 15 years; and
WHERAS, Ms. Mays returned to Public Works as a Principal Engineering Technician to complete her final years of service; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby honor Michaela Mays on her retirement after 32 years of dedicated service to the City of Kansas City; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Michaela Mays in token of the Mayor and Council’s respect and high regard and their best wishes for a long and happy retirement which she so richly deserves.
