RESOLUTION - Recognizing Vamos KC Employee Resource Group during Hispanic Heritage Month.

WHEREAS, Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated annually from September 15 to October 15, honoring the histories, cultures, and contributions of Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America; and

WHEREAS, the celebration begins on September 15, marking the anniversary of independence for Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua, followed by Mexico and Chile, which celebrate their independence on September 16 and 18, respectively; and

WHEREAS, the Vamos KC Employee Resource Group plays a vital role in fostering an equitable and inclusive workplace culture throughout the City, supporting the recruitment and retention of a diverse workforce, enhancing service delivery to historically underserved communities, and promoting the professional development of City employees; and

WHEREAS, Vamos KC also serves as a key resource for increasing cultural awareness, sharing knowledge, and bridging understanding across cultures within the City's workforce; and

WHEREAS, as part of Hispanic Heritage Month, Vamos KC invites all City departments and employees to attend the annual Fiesta Latina on Wednesday, September 17, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Ilus Park, featuring vendors, food trucks, lowriders, educational speakers, music, and opportunities for community connection; and

WHEREAS, the Hispanic and Latino communities' rich cultural heritage continues to strengthen the social fabric of our city and nation, promoting values of unity, inclusivity, and mutual respect; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
