RESOLUTION - Acknowledging the 10th anniversary of Journey to Life.

WHEREAS, Journey To New Life was founded on August 29, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Journey To New Life was founded by Georgia Walker, Sr., Rose McLarney, and Rita Flynn; and
WHEREAS, Journey To New Life was founded to assist persons released from prison and reintegrating in Kansas City; and
WHEREAS, Journey to New Life provides wraparound case management services based upon the risks and needs of each individual, providing vital support and healthy community reintegration in all life domains; and
WHEREAS, Journey To New Life assists people leaving prison with emergency assistance, case management, housing, and employment; and
WHEREAS, Journey To New Life operates two houses - Journey House Residence, founded in 2015, and Peace House Residence, founded in 2019, and each has a 20-bed capacity and assists 100 persons collectively each year; and
WHEREAS, individuals have the space and safety needed to test themselves and grow, and they are provided with their daily living needs and connected to resources within the community; and
WHEREAS, Journey To New Life was established to assist those in poverty, help veterans and others suffering from addictions and mental illness, who have no other safety nets; and
WHEREAS, Journey To New Life believes in and witnesses peoples' "Power To Change" and become contributing members of the community; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize the 10th year of operation of Journey To New Life; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Kathleen Kennedy, Executive Director of Journey to New Life, with the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for ...
