Honoring Gale Tallis on her retirement and recognizing her contributions to the arts and civic community in Kansas City, Missouri.

WHEREAS, Gale Tallis has spent the last 14+ years as the first female Executive Director of The Folly Theater, Kansas City's 121 year old Carnegie Hall, leading it through the great recession, a pandemic, a major renovation, and establishment of a new gala event, while being a champion for Kansas City's downtown cultural and arts renaissance; and
WHEREAS, prior to her work at The Folly Theater she was part of the inaugural team to bring Union Station back to life from 1999-2007 as Director of Special Events; and
WHEREAS, Gale is known for her ability to build relationships and work collaboratively to grow the quality and quantity of arts organizations and offerings in Kansas City; and
WHEREAS, Gale has had the opportunity to partner with many local organizations like The Downtown Council, the Kansas City Jazz Ambassadors, the UMKC Conservatory, Johnson County's Yardley Hall, Friends of Chamber Music, and the Harriman-Jewell Series; and
WHEREAS, her dedication has supported and grown organizations such as Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey, Heartland Men's Chorus, and Folk Alliance International; and
WHEREAS, Gale has led the programing efforts for the Folly Jazz Series, Americana Series and most importantly the Folly Kids' Series which brings grade school children from around the city to experience The Folly; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby extend their most sincere appreciation to Gale Tallis for her years of distinguished and exceptional service to Kansas City; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Gale Tallis with the Mayor and Council recognizing their ap...
